-described as bloody, barbaric, violent and illiterate

-time period was known as the dark ages

-native inhabitants of England

-made up of 4 groups that invaded England in the 5th century

*First group was the Angles

*Second group was the Saxons

*Third Group was the Jutes

*The last group was the Danes

-all groups brought their own uniqueness to England and blended together

-believed that old age should be celebrated
